For the past month or so i've been agonizing whether or not to take the Nike+ Sportband back. Mainly it's because i find the inaccuracy intolerable. I can run the same course two days in a row and get completely different readings (by at least two-tenths of a mile). The sensor pocket seemed to work initially but since then i've had recurrent issues. And although i am not a hardcore runner, in many things my brain works in a discrete and precise (some would say OC) manner, so hindi ko talaga masikmura.
The one thing holding me back was a little twinge of hiya - after all, i had used it for over two months and soaked it through-and-through with my sweat; while i know that in this country "the customer is always right" and you can (almost) always return something as long as you have a receipt, it still felt wrong.
Anyway, i finally bit the bullet and returned it (actually it was Gianina who returned it, but who's counting?). Buti na lang, because then we found out that the Sportbands had actually been recalled. (For a completely different thing, but recalled nontheless).
So these days i'm running with something i would consider to be "better" - a GPS watch, namely a Garmin Forerunner 305 that Gianina bought me for an advanced-Christmas-present. I've had only one issue with accuracy so far (the reading was off by one-hundredths of a mile), but otherwise it's doing fabulously. I haven't tried the included heart rate monitor yet but i'm sure it'll be useful once i start training seriously for a half-marathon.
I must admit that the Nike+ website was pretty nifty with its interface, but i can achieve the same functionality with the Garmin and mapmyrun.com - plus, i have a lot more stuff to tweak.
